Awareness and Field Demonstration on Paddy Rotary Mulcher for insitu incorporation of paddy stubbles was organized by Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar on 10th November, 2020 in the Adopted Village, Perkapally of Saidapur mandal in the paddy harvested field of Sri Vanaparthy Ramesh. Dr. G.Manjulatha, Principal Scientist and Head, Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar welcomed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on paddy rotary mulcher and the need and significance of mechanization in agriculture due to the scarcity of labour in the present days . The DAATTC Cordinator, Sri. K.Shekar provided awareness to the farmers regarding the paddy rotary mulcher to overcome the ill effects of burning the paddy stalks. He conveyed that the nutrients and fertilizers which are applied to the paddy crop will remain to some extent in the paddy stalks which may be better incorporated in the soil so that the next crop will receive the remnant fertilizers and the usage of fertilizers can be gradually reduced in the next season crop. The rotary mulcher will cut the stubbles into small pieces which enhance the stubble decomposition rate so that the next crop can soon receive the nutrients and it will inturn improve the soil fertility, organic carbon content and nutrient status. Also, the burning activity will inmmensely effect the soil properties and death of soil microorganisms. A farmer owning a tractor can easily use this implement and 1 acre can be easily incorporated in an hour. Dr.G.Usharani, Scientist (Pl.Br.) and adopted village incharge encouraged the farmers to adopt this new implement and technology in their farms and observe the pros and cons behind this activity. The Agricultural Extension Officer Sri. Katam Raju, Sarpanch Sri. B.Komaraiah, Deputy Sarpanch Sri. Potharaju Srinivas and around 50 farmers participated in the programme and interacted with the scientists regarding cultivation aspects of crops pertaining to the forthcoming rabi season.
